Cute kiddies and Asperger's

Okay, so I was at Gokan Elementary School (後閑小)today and had a great time, I have to say! All classes went well, even if it was so crazy hot again.

'Long time, no see.' I haven't been to Gokan in months and, unfortunately, I won't be back now until next January. 残念です (too bad)。 But I look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year!

Hopefully I will have figured out how better to use this blog and a website to make things interesting for students, teachers, and others when I'm not visiting for months.

Quick 'Hello' to Kasahara Tomoko at Gokan. Nice to see and talk to you again. Very interesting to hear about the book you are reading. If anyone else wants to know about this book, it's called _Born on a Blue Day: Inside the Extraordinary Mind of an Autistic Savant Tammet, who has Asperger's Syndrome or _. It's an autobiographical account written by DanielAS (more info here and here and here) and sounds like one heck of a fascinating guy! (I wish I could learn a language in one week!!) You can find out more about it at Amazon.com or Amazon.co.jp (if you really need to see it all in Japanese) or just click one of the images here on the right.

Incidentally, I read a book this summer, which had a boy as the main character who has Asperger's Syndrome. Really cool, fun read. It's called _The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, written by Mark Haddon (interesting article about him in The Independent here) and published by Vintage. Really does a good job of sharing the personality and logical thought processes of the character. I recommend it. Click the image or hereto see the Amazon listing. And, I want to read the Tammet book now to hear directly from a person with AS, what is going on inside his mind from day to day. I want to learn more about Asperger's Syndrome and Autism and suggest you do, too. Interesting list of books (in English) here, courtesy of Aspergers.com.

And that's all I want to say right now. Remember, you can always add your own comments, simply by clicking below this, or any post on this blog, where it says "comments". Or feel free to email me by clicking on the little envelope icon. If you email, please let me know if I can add anything you say to the blog, okay? Cheers.

I'm out...
